I'm giving it a whirl Saturday.  Anyone around Olympia have a net they aren't using?  Also, anyone have a link to something that tells me what to do with them once I get them?

I have a friend whom I give all mine to in return he will give me some smoked and pickled.  If you are on FB he is on the Fish and Game Smoke House.  He will be posting how they turned out.

I plan on going but don't know where to go. :dunno: I have a net and will share with someone who doesn't have one but knows of a place to hit. Went years ago with my dad but I don't remember where the heck it was, seems like someplace in the Kelso area. :dunno:

We are going to hit a place near 4 corners and Camelot.  If we don't get anything we will look for rigs.

10 pounds is about 1/3 of a 5 gallon bucket.
Hardly makes it worth going for if that is the limit.. Heck that is barely a meal for 2 let alone a meal for 4
rolled in flour deep fried and eaten as finger food

10 Lb seems to be a lot of protein... :)

Now I'm ready. Sportsmans warehouse in puyallup has nets in stock so I picked mine up. Gonna get up super early and head down. Not sure where to go that has good access being as I've never done this but am excited none the less. Then if we do well and get our 2 limits then we are headed to Portland sportsmans show. Should be fun. Being as I am going down with no time to scout out access if anyone would like to pm some general access points it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and good luck everyone. I'll be sure to post success pics.

Rain rain rain. Is all I see in forecast. Does anyone think that it will blow the river out and make for a tough smelt fishery on the opener?

Well I live about 2 miles from the river, took longer to drive down the hill than it did to get my limit. Mostly large males, no need to sort them, although a couple females did seem to escape.

We had a great time and limited. But not near that quick. Most we got per scoop four. Some scoops empty didnt see anybody else doing any better than us and there were alot of people there.

Took two of us an hour and a half with one net.we maybe could have had better numbers if we fished lower but that's fine. Gave us some time to do the sport after a long drive.

We got our 2 limits in 4 dips, had to dump some back even. First time I had ever done it. We went to riverside park, no crowds and easy access.

We dipped 8 limits in an hour. Got them under ice.... kids are competing in a music soloing competition at Monticello middle school as we speak. Won't be cleaning our fish until tonight.

Had fun. Taught 5 newbies to smelting today.
