Rooster Needed

I am in need of a rooster, not so much to breed my chickens, but to kick the butt of a Raven that has been getting to my eggs. The last time we had chickens we didn't have this problem. Of course we had a little Banney Rooster that would fight anything.  If the rooster does not work then I'll have to go to other methods.

This is why I keep turkeys with my chickens.  Ravens, crows and magpies don't land when there is a big bad tom around.

If you where close I got a big BA redstar that I'd give you.  He likes to fight and very protective of the hens.

Sounds like a "big" crow.....     We have an extra silkie rooster, but I am not sure he would do much.

From what I'm finding out, crow hanging is about the only deterrent.

There always seems to be a ton of roosters on Craigslist.  Most feed stores have bulletin boards as well with animals on them.

Just curious, how does a bird get to your eggs?  One would have to go in our fenced/covered coop, then walk into the house and then fly up into the nest boxes, not something I think a wild bird would often do.

My yard is not covered. I've seen them walking out of the hen house with an egg in their mouths.

Silkie roosters aren't exactly going to bring the hurt are they?   I've got a silkie rooster that gets shoved around by roosters that weight 1.5 pounds

If attitude alone was the deterrent my sons little Serama would be the king of the hill. Too bad Serama's are the worlds smallest chickens.

Yeah I have a bunch of little Seramas and they are just plain anti-social, if they were bigger than a coffee mug, I'd have to get rid of them because they're so rude

Pellet rifle will solve the problem, and you'll be able to sleep in if you want to.
Crows avoid my yard like the plague after dropping a couple of them in front of their friends.

Wouldn't recommend shooting a Raven unless you would like to increase your chances of ending up in the hoosegow.
