Trail Cam Destroyed ?
« on: February 02, 2015, 08:41:41 PM »
So, always reading about trail camera theft got me wondering. Has anyone ever had a trail cam destroyed by an obvious human attack?  Shot with a gun, Beaten to a pulp.  Just Curious :dunno:

I've worried about that before. Thankfully it hasn't happened to me so far

I could see this being one of those stupid criminal things.  Shoot the camera but forget about the card. That would be an interesting people on camera photo.

That stinks ! It seems a lot of guys put there cams out in the open ..why not put them off to the side of where someone might walk by ? Brush them in so they are not seen so easy ..Maybe put them up in a tree and pointing down  :dunno: been picking up a few tips just by watching Warden shows  :chuckle: Also I see they are making cams that send you a message and picture when your cam goes off ! That  would be fun to catch someone in the act ...

I've just ordered my first ever trail cam. I skipped the box and cable because I assumed that anyone who would steal one would just as likely destroy or attempt to steal a secured one.

I'm thinking the second, hidden camera watching the first might be an interesting twist.

Id like to know why some were destroyed, I be willing to bet there is more to it just being ruined for no good reason. Up in 101 there are some coasties that have 0 reguard for others and set cams right up on other peoples sets! well you wanna do that and be prepared for whatever happens.

Interesting point. One of my elk set ups I have had other Hunters set up on it to hunt, but so far no other cams set at my cam locations(that I know of)

I had 2 smashed to pieces at once. One was a good one and the other i was testing after having issues with it. Private land that only i had permission to hunt. Owner had a family reunion and a rather rebellious 13 year old grandson visited. He smashed the cams... not realizing they took his pics at the same time. I loaded the pics up on the landowners pc and he knew exactly who it was. The kid was very sorry akd kind of scared what i might do. I just had him help check the cams with ke the remainder of the summer he was there. I always took the longest way up and down the steepest hills on the way to the cals when he went with me. By the end he actually took a great interest in it all. Hope he remembers.... he doesnt really have the best home life, and is unfortunatelly too far away for me to keep bringing him along.
