Coyote learner
« on: March 14, 2015, 11:31:12 PM »
Just purchased a Savage .223 & mounted a 4-16x scope - sighted in at 125 yards. The intent is to have a dedicated Coyote gun (also have a 12-ga). I'm a 56 year old hunter/outdoorsman and have killed & ate everything from squirrel to deer (got skunked on my moose hunt). I've been in the woods all my life and am comfortable in all outdoor situations (ex Marine). I would like to spend some time with an accomplished coyote hunter and learn what I need to know in the field. I have never deliberately hunted coyotes before, so I have a lot to learn. I have been reading everything I can find and studying everything I can find online, but it's not the same as being out there. I would be happy to run the call or anything necessary to learn the ins and outs of coyote hunting and putting up the furs. I'm growing tired of watching videos and am willing to 'pay the price' to learn from an expert. Please PM me if this sounds agreeable to you. Thank you.

You may want to go to Cabelas in Lacy later this month when BearManRic is there. He is such a great source for information, in addition to being a genuinely good man. Try out a few of his calls, pick his brain. He will help steer you in the right direction. With your hunting experience you already have a good start.  I'm not a pro but am starting to know what I am doing. Would be happy to show you how to get skunked/outsmarted by coyotes in Western Wa.
