Free Pointhunter app contest
« on: February 04, 2015, 12:25:47 PM »
Hey folks...
One of our sponsors, Byron from "Gotmytag" has agreed to give away 5 free iPhone/iPad apps to our members for trying out the new Pointhunter app.
PointHunter is the fastest and easiest way to know your points in 13 states. It will give you application reminders in 37 states when the application period starts and/or 2 days before the end of the application period via text, in app message or email, your choice. The Point Hunter application shows you bonus and preference points for each big game species. Bonus and Preference points can be difficult to find. Each state has different systems and requires you to fill out a bunch of information. Enter your information once and have all your preference points displayed. You will have these points displayed at your fingertips year round. At the click of a button see your updated points at any time in any state. You will plan ways to receive hard to get tags more effectively. This should help you go on better hunts more often.

Here's how it works

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwWaV0trHrw.

https://www.gotmytag.com/

Here's the contest...
Pick a number between 1 and 2500 and post your username. I'll use a random number generator and pick 5 numbers. The 5 members with the closest numbers will win the app. We will ask that the winners come back and post a quick review of the app after you've had a chance to use it.
I'll let the contest run for 7 days and pick the numbers on Wednesday February 11 at 4:00pm.

Here's the kicker. The free giveaway will only work through the ITunes store for Apple devices.... We can't get free giveaway certificates for Android or Google stores...sorry about that.  It's $1.99 for the app for you non-Apple folks.

And it won't be yours, Todd_ID.

Looks like we've got a few winners.

I just pulled 4 numbers out of random.org's random number generator.
They were.....

308

337

821

1983

2070

Winners are as follows...

Drock425 with a 425(308)

Woodchuck with a 338.(337)

Bullblaster with a 838(821)

Vandeman17 with a 1983(1983) Hit the nail directly on the head with that one.

Widgeondeke with 2321(2070)

If the winners shoot me a pm, I'll get you your codes for the free app.

Please do me a favor and post a review on what you like and don't like about the app.
Thanks for the participation.

Thanks again to all.

I downloaded the app last night and got to play with it. Anyone that applies for multiple states or is forgetful on  when to even put in for Washington needs this app. It's a great tool. Shows all your points, and gives notice when states drawings open and close.

One question I have is will the app notify when drawing results are available in different states?

And if I could add one thing to this app that I think would be really helpful to a lot of guys is being able to have multiple profiles. For the guys that have a wife or kids that hunt it'd helpful to be able to click the menu button and switch profiles. Maybe you can already do it and I didn't see how but other than that this app is awesome!

The plan is to lookup and notify you if you drew. That is only done in some states right now. We are working on more.
But you can hit refresh points in Washington and it will look it up for you.

Also we agree the next big release needs what we call the friends and family plan where you can have many users.  We have it mostly done it just needs testing.
So we are thinking within a month or two you should have that.
Thanks for using it.

I hope this answered your questions.  Let me know if it did not.

How useful is this app if the only points a person needs to keep track of are all in one state - Washington?

Its not quite as useful since you can easily go online and pull them up but its nice to be able to just open the app and look. I have points in 4 states so I like it so far.

I have points in Oregon also but I don't apply every year like I used to so keeping track of points is not necessary. I'll begin building deer points in Wyoming this year but even with that I don't see the need for a special point app on my phone.

How useful is this app if the only points a person needs to keep track of are all in one state - Washington?

Its not quite as useful since you can easily go online and pull them up but its nice to be able to just open the app and look. I have points in 4 states so I like it so far.

The reminders are cool too. I don't have points anywhere other than here and Wyoming so it's not a lot to keep track of.

Being able to pull up an app and seeing when I need to be put in for permits in Washington and seeing when to apply for other states without searching all over the internet I think is awesome.
