Never did that but I lived there for a couple of seasons. It is a beautiful place though for sure. I miss it there every day. Good luck.

Lived in Helena for a couple years & was near that area but didn't know of this spot - such nice
country. Some good sheds there also!

I won't be going this year due to a first kid being due April 28th. Had fun last year even though the weather sucked and there werent much for sheds to be picked up.

The property to the west of the road on the way out of Augusta is part of my cousin's ranch.  The ranch HQ is on the east side of town, they have some irrigated hay meadows a bit of grazing up there.  They have a lot more property down towards Bowman's.   Some right good rattle snake hunting south of town.

I worked on the Lazy A C ranch, They boarder the southern portion of the game range from nilan reservoir to the national forest. When I left we (4 people) had 2 piles of antlers that were 5x12x4 feet high, if you know where to look you can find dinosaur bones also.

I've heard that the gas companys have developed the area is that true??

Maverick is right... the weather was uncooperative last year to say the least.. Sheds were already picked over by someone who didn't wana follow rules.... But it was good time... I'll be there again this year... Here's a bone a buddy picked down there last year...

Big ranches up there, Krone, Sun River and the Broken O run a lot of cattle.  The Broken O is the biggest irrigated ranch in the US at times depending on how other spreads expand and contract.
