« on: December 27, 2008, 09:04:21 PM »
I have yet to buy out of state licenses or tags, but when I get to it, I'm curious to see what the best states are..  :dunno:

I'm guessing you also want to know which states we apply for special hunts in? You say "raffle tickets" but the more usual way to hunt other states is to apply for hunts in which there are not any over-the-counter tags.

I mean either/or.  We all dream about what states we'd like to hunt, but who actually dolls out the cash?

Only washington and montana for me. Hopefully Idaho someday and maybe wyoming . But I really like the place I can hunt in montana. My parents only let me get one out of state tag a year. So if i don't draw deer. I will put in for antalope. I have 1 combo point for deer. And 1 antalope point. I will be praying for a tag next year ;).

Last 3 years I have put in for Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Wyoming, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Kansas.  Drew Clemens Sheep in 2005.  In 2006 my first year of applying out of state I drew New Mexico 16D rifle Elk. This year (2008) drew Wyoming Unit 7 Elk and leaving in two days for New Mexico 2C Mule Deer.   :IBCOOL:  Gets very expensive putting in for all the states but if you don't pay you don't play.   ;)

What is there in Nevada? I hear hear more talk about hunting Kalifornia than Nevada.

Nevada is great for mule deer, elk, and antelope, but very difficult to draw a tag.
Even Residents only get to hunt every 3 or 4 years, at the best.

The only state I apply in besides Washington is Oregon, only because with two little kids I just can't afford to do much hunting out of state. I would like to hunt Montana, Idaho, or Wyoming if I had the time/money, but I don't, and won't have for a while. There is a possibilty that I may buy an OTC Idaho deer tag next year as the wife, kids, and I will be going to Salmon, Idaho to visit my wife's grandparents, and if it's up to me we will go in October. But that's only if it's up to me, and it's most likely not!   :(
