Any story to him?Sorry for not gettin back to ya, about 1 hr after posting the pics of my bear, my wife and I headed to the hospital and had our first child What an experience! The bear tastes great, I actually went scouting for the high hunt, and a pretty good storm blew in the highcountry that evening. So I decided to walk out in the dark and sleep in the truck instead of my bivy in the monsoon! Well after returning to the truck I decided to head to a spot to look for a bear in the AM! Finally arriving there at 11:00 and slept for a few hrs. Got out and started hiking just before daylight, about an hour into the hunt I could hear the boar feeding in the berries. I had seen several sows w/ cubs earlier in the season in the area, so I slowly moved to get a look and spotted him at about 100yrds. I just kneeled down and watched to see if there were any little ones around. After about 10 min I decided he was alone, but had to move to make the shot, in doing so I snapped a little twig alerting the bear. I quickly slid one in behind the shoulder with my .270 the bear went about 30 yrds and piled up in a stand of small spruce trees. Being my first bear I wanted to get him out whole so the drag was on down the single track trail, not the best idea I have ever had , after a couple hrs I was within about 60 yrds of where I could get the truck but could not move the bear I was completely wore out. Had to head off the mountain to call in a favor from a good friend thankfully he answered and came to help load him up!
