Last shed of 08 and first for 09
« on: December 28, 2008, 06:52:25 PM »
A buddy and I went east to do a little dog hunting and as we were snowshoeing up the ridge I noticed some deer bedded below us about 200 yards away and in the timber.  I took the spotting scope out and there was a buck, and not only was he a buck but he was missing half of his headgear.  I also noticed a little blood next to him.  So we continued on our way not to disturb them.  Well no dogs wanted to play today so we scoped some of the surrounding ridges and was surprised to see quite a few deer.  Two were defiantly bucks without their headgear and were some big bodied boys.  So we know where they will be come this spring.  On the way back the other deer that were below us were gone so I made a decision to go down and see if he left me a treasure.  He did!  It is a great forkie.

Yes Ice.  Some can actually leave quite a bit, course a little blood goes a long ways in snow

Wow, thanks guys. I solo tented/snowshoed up near Tyee ridge a few years ago Cougar hunting...in the snow. Had blood and deer tracks cut thru my frozen overnite site, (cougar tracks too....) I always thought it was the cougar....maybe a shed blood trail and cougar to follow, guess I will never know...  :dunno:

Super cool picture, my buddy likes to take pictures of his shed finds, especially if they are covered with moss and hard to spot.

Just be thankful you got in on it a few years back when it wasn't as popular and have been lucky enought to find some pretty good ones.  :ass:
