I ended up going with a 26" finished length bartlien barrel I'm probably gonna end up topping it off with a muscle brake. Hopefully have it up and running in time to find a spring bear in Idaho. Hammer I've been eyeing the matrix's already I have a buddy who has been trying them in his 26 nosler.
You gonna draw those pistols or whistle Dixie?

Great choice in the muzzle brake and the 160 Matrix should flat HAMMER a bear! Several of us push them with a Ultra Magnum case, with some pretty faaaaaaast results.  :)

Thanks for all the help guys Im change gears slightly and I'm gonna go the 6.5 stw route. I already ordered the barrel and dies and tomorrow I'm headed to the gunshow to look for stw brass to neck down.

Who would waste their time or money on an overbore 6.5! Think of the barrel life!!!!!!!!!! :chuckle:

Good choice on the 6.5 STW. Good luck with the brass though!

We all know that your numbers are GROSSLY over stated and probably just made up. :chuckle: Next you'll be telling people that you can launch one of those 160gr Matrix bullets at over 3400 fps and make the 26 Nosler look like a 6.5x47 Lapua.

Some have to see it to believe it, most are to busy reading about barrel life rather than bank rolling the componants to wear one out as fast as they can so they have a excuse to rebarrel to another grossly over bore wildcat cartridge. :chuckle:

I'll pass on the 6.5x47, I'm not the soft recoil sensitive type. :chuckle:

8mm Magnum brass will do just fine necked down.

Or you can just buy 7mm stw nosler brass for the same price :chuckle:

I just finished a semi custom 7mm stw. 7mm stw brass can be very hard to find and when you do find it, it's pretty dang expensive. Nosler makes some great brass and you can find it on midway and a lot of other places.

Benchmark Barrels in Arlington carries the Matrix line, call and see if they have what you need in stock. I order mine straight from Matrix in Canada. I order in bulk to make the shipping worth while. If you just want to try some to see if they shoot for you, let me know when your ready to rock and I'll send you some on me.

I love any cartridge than can use US 869; that's when you know you're having fun! Muscle brakes are hard to beat when you get up into that sort of case capacity. You should be very happy!

I ordered my Matrix bullets direct from the shop in Canada and I had them in less than a week. I really need to get around to ordering some of the heavy 270 bullets to try too!.

The 6.5x7mm Dakota is a good way to do as well, no belt and brass is easy to find.
