Been using the same Spot Hogg Wise Guy for 7 years. No problems other than leaving it in my pack on accident and realizing it when I went to pull back on an elk  :bash:

:yike: you'll never forget that one.  I have nightmares about that kind of thing.
im not sure how that happens.

It was my first year archery hunting, left the truck on a 2 mile hike to a secluded basin I wanted to check out. Was hauling a$$ through the woods and walked full speed straight into a small herd of feeding elk at 30 yards. Somehow they didn't hear me coming, don't know how as I'm sure I sounded like a busting elk. Then I came to realize my release never made it onto my wrist as I was getting geared up. Dropped to my knees with no cover, slowly took off my pack, unzipped it and dug out my release. I just grabbed it in my hand instead of strapping it on, and about 1 second before I pulled back the wind changed and busted me.

2 lessons learned that afternoon. Elk can be anywhere in tall timber, and now I leave my release on from sun up to sun down.

I have a Scott SilverHorn  A year after I bought it, the release mechanism got slammed in my truck door and broke.  We won't talk about that as I probably sound stupid enough as it is.
I E-mailed Scott and asked if I could just purchase the release mechanism as the wrist strap and connection strap were ok.
I received an E-mail back asking what my address was, I replied with requested info, 3 days later a new mechanism showed up in the mail.
Again I E-mailed them that they had forgotten to include an invoice as to what I owed them.
They reply, No payment,  Thanks for choosing Scoot for your Archery needs.

Now if the release had failed as a result of faulty material or craftsmanship, I might have just thought, well that's fair, but I was honest and admitted I did something stupid and they took care of me anyway.  Unless Scotts quality takes a big drop in quality, my future releases will be purchased from them.

You are gonna pay more than $35 for a Scott, but the problem the OP has now would be of no concern.
Spent most of my $$ on huntin, fishin & retrievin dogs, the rest I just pretty much wasted.

How long ago was that JJD?  Just wondering if that was the new ownership or the old.  The original company was hard to beat for service.  Hopefully the new owners will keep the good service too!
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

I played with a new scott silverhorn yesterday witch is a hook release.  It was nice and i liked the light trigger but a couple of times it didn't reset right i could se it being a problem in the field.  So for now ill stick with a closed jaw release.
