I have a question on the final fitting of a grip cap I replaced on my Remington 700. The original broke off and I got a replacement from Remington. The new one is black plastic and it has the white plastic spacer. I cleaned off the remnants of the old cap, and glued the new cap and spacer on. This cap had the 2 plastic prongs that matched up with the holes all ready in the stock.
Problem is the new cap and spacer are a little to large, which I expected. I figured I would need to sand it down to match perfectly. I started with some fine sand paper, and the black plastic looks like crap after you sand it! I am wondering if there is a better sanding method and material, or do I just need to use a sharpie to color it after I am done?
