looks like you're figuring it out pretty quick there, i just wish i could get on the water this year
That's what one of the guys I met told me to. Don't want to be the guy float fishin while everyone is drifting and learn a little River fishin etiquette like down stream man casts first

Fly fishermen start at the top and cast swing and step down and repeat. It is poor etiquette to step in below them, worse to do it and then just stand in one spot. But you should be well served know different methods, best of luck.

I'm not afraid to give them first water

I'm not afraid to give them first water As long as they're not to slow working their way down it usually works pretty well.That rule is generally true for fishing through a run with any kind of gear (or at least it used to be). It is normally the best way to work through a piece of water. Obviously I'm not talking about terminal areas where everyone has to just camp on a particular spot.
