Identification
« on: March 23, 2015, 02:56:16 PM »
Anyone know what kind of bird/duck this is? Saw it here at work and have never seen one before. Sorry for poor quality. Phone pic through binos. More of a pointed type bill. Two very prominent white patches on the backs of the wings. Orangish/reddish feet. Thanks. Trying to improve my knowledge.

well its a duck that's for sure never seen anything like that but my dad went into one of or spots one time and said there was a blackish duck he could never identify it tho.

did it dive or puddle?
about how big was it?
could  you hear the sound i made?
bill color?
was it far out or in shore?
lake or river?
Were there more than one?

you don't have to answer all of them but it would help paint the picture :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

thanks ryan

Looks like a pigeon guillemot to me.  Type of auk.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Yep!  Lots of them out in the salt.  A non-huntable bird!  No season for them.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Thanks for the info doublelung! That's exactly what it is. Have been working out here two years and had never seen one. Interesting. Thanks again
