Bad experience with Santana Outdoors
« on: February 24, 2015, 07:59:33 AM »
Has anybody ever ordered from these guys? They have great prices on the items that are still on stock.  I know its the off season and lots of places are low on stock. Anyways I ordered the First Lite Kanab pants in asat and the first lite gloves from them on February 5th. Got my confirmation email and ot had a link to check on Order status. After about a week I emailed because it was still awaiting fulfilment. Still no reply or delivery. Its been almost 3 weeks now. Prior to ordering I emailed to ask when they would get another product back in stock and got a reply saying in a couple of months. Other than that, no communication.  Calling by phone always goes to a voicemail. Link to site:

Maybe I am not reading this right, but it looks like you inquired about the availability prior to ordering and they told you they would be available in a couple of months.  If they told you upfront it would be a couple of months, I don't see the complaint if it has only been 3 weeks?

They are probably out of your size. The thing with first lite is that they get their most of their line of clothes around June/July and once it is sold out there is no availability until the following year. I think I read they will be getting some first lite gear out in spring so that is probably what they are talking about in their reply that more will be available in a couple months.

My initial inquiry was about a seperate item. Specifically the first lite chama qz. That is the product I saw was out of stock on their website and was unable to order for that reason.  I bought the pants because on the website they were still available.  Same with the gloves.  I would have still ordered the chama qz on back order if I had the option. My fustration is that I ordered something that was not on back order and its been 3 weeks with no communication and 2 weeks with no response to both email and voicemail inquiries on the order.  They have the best prices on this gear I have found, but its feeling too good to be true. O well.  If they contacted me and tried to make it right and had a decent explaination I would probably try them again in the future. More time will tell I imagine. I was hoping to find someone else on here who has bought from them before to give me some hope that I'm not just being scammed.  Also I contacted First Lite and most of their stock is out at most retailers, with more coming in around the end of march. Like I said, if the item 8s just on back order I still would have ordered it but as of now I cant get ahold of the company.

When I am bargain hunting for rock bottom discounts, which is common for me, I tend to be forgiving of inventory and supply chain issues. If they're accepting razor thin margins to pass the savings onto me, I try to be forgiving over these logistical issues.  :twocents:

 :yeah:

Althou not an excuse for poor customer service, it's difficult for a company to spend a lot of time tracking shipments for orders they make little to no profit on.  Most know where the money is in their industry and focus their efforts there.  Especially if they are a smaller outfit with minimal staffing.

I am an "I want it now" type guy.  I am usually wiling to pay a bit extra to avoid backorders or long shipping delays.  It's worth it to me knowing I got what I wanted or have plenty of time to ship it back and re-order another size, style, or brnad.
