Late season coon help

So this time of the year it seems like it's extremely difficult for me to catch raccoons. I'm at a place where there is tons of tracks high up on the river bank and you can tell they're using this bank quite often but it doesn't seem like they're interested in food much at all. Assuming it's their breeding season, does anyone have any tips to get late season coon to commit to a cage?

What are you using for bait? If there's lots of active sign and food in your cage, you'll get one soon enough. What size cage are you using? I've seen some people get coons using small 10 x 12 cages but I had no luck until I went to my larger cat cages at 12x18. Plus you have to make sure there is no way for them to reach their hands in through the sides otherwise they will steal your bait and trip your triggers without ever going in.

Golf ball in the cage.. Resembles an egg.. I know they don't like the feel of the wire on their feet as well.. Cover the bottom with dirt ect.

I've tried all kinds of baits. Marshmallows, cat food, peanut butter, a combination of these and other things and no luck. I've also started covering the bottom of the cage so they don't feel the wires. But still no luck.

Anise and smoked fish has always done well for me with spring coons. That and patience.

I agree that coons are sight hunters/feeders and that eggs/marshmallows catch coons, but ya might try covering the cage and hiding the bait in the back or under the trap. Maybe curiously will kill the the coon..good luck.
