shed hunting in fresh snow?
« on: February 27, 2015, 11:01:28 AM »
I was planning on heading back out this weekend to get some exercise and maybe find a shed or two. It is currently snowing up where I was planning to go so I am not sure if it is worth still going. Only supposed to snow today for a few more hours then clear up by tonight and be sunny tomorrow. Thoughts?

I wouldn't let fresh snow stop you. Who knows what you might see or find that isn't shed related. Get out, stretch the muscles and get some fresh air. Finding a shed would just be a bonus. When you get back I want a report  ;)
$5 is a lot of money if you ain't got it

Roger that guys. Finding a shed is more of bonus than anything. Last weekend the roads were already pretty mucky and nasty so just a little worried the snow and subsequent melt could make them gnarly. I don't think my two labs have a strong enough back to pull me out of the ditch if I get stuck  :chuckle:

Park low and hike.  Last hike I did, I left from 97a and hiked straight up.  Reminded me I need to get out and start hiking again.  :chuckle: :chuckle:

That isn't a bad idea. I was going to check out the area close to where I was last weekend and that is up the River Road a ways. I could always park down there and hike in. Just make more of a day out of it.

My dogs are shed hunting dogs yet so it will be all visual which makes it harder. I will probably go up tomorrow mid morning and spend the day tromping around. Never know what I might stumble across.

With a little fresh snow you'll just see the big ones!!! Good luck and have fun, I'll be out myself but on the west side where it's much harder to find them.
