Point it downhill and drive it.  That's what his plan was before he was overcome with a rush of estrogen.

No way to go down without going through private land.

Whats it matter at this point? the dude is already going through a no fly zone, Pay the tresspass Fine...  Just get the dam Jeep off the Mt, this is rediculous...   I have never seen anything quite like this.. only owned the jeep for 2 days now it sits on the side of a hill for week N half..  This dude must be a idiot.. i know if that was my jeep, it would be off the Mt..

You assume the landowners would simply allow him to drive right on through huh? :chuckle:

whats the land owner going to do pull a gun and hold him hostage?  :dunno:  Dont think so.....  :chuckle:  call the cops??? Perfect.... Pay the ticket!....  ;)

I'd say driving through the private property would be a great option, if it were possible without rolling the jeep. When your other option is a $10,000 helicopter ride, or driving it out, any way you can drive it out is the better option. Pay the landowner a fee, or pay the fine you're bound to get if you don't have permission from the landowner. I suppose you'd also have to cut out a section of that fence, and you'd be responsible for fixing that. Even with all that, it's gotta be cheaper than the helicopter.

So your ethics go only as far as your bank account huh? That speaks volumes to your character!

So let's put the "how" the landowner detains someone driving a jeep across his property without permission aside for a minute, you condone the act of simply ignoring ones property rights, and the law, and simply driving through flipping the bird and paying a small fine?

That escalated quickly...

Sounds like if anything he condones paying the landowner a fee   :dunno:

Really? That's what you get out of this?

Quote
or pay the fine you're bound to get if you don't have permission from the landowner

Sounds to me that both of them couldn't care less about the landowners rights, and their ethics go only as far as their bank accounts can afford, after that it's flip the bird and drive through regardless.

Not saying its a good choice but if its his only choice to get his Jeep off the Mt, i think he needs to do what he needs to do.. Damage and idiot label is already done...  what do you think there phool he just leave a 2 day old jeep on the MT for ever? Be realistic, we all know that was a dumb thing he did, now what???  I know I wouldnt have 10K to have a Helicopter fly it off that MT, that would not be a option.. Option would be to get buddies and the right gear and get it off the MT....  it could be done, i dont get what the dude is waiting for..  They cant sieze his propeterty for tresspassing...?  IDK   I just think this is rediculous..  Or Option 2, he probably has full coverage, call Triple A......  ;)

And I would be really humble if I were him talking to the landowner...  I am only saying if down was his only option how would ethics have anything to do with it?  thats would be his only option in the scenerio were talking about.... He is F'd already anyway whats a little more humble pie? atleast he got his jeep back then he can chalk it up to know what NOT to do again... I am just curious what you would do Phool if this were you?..

Huntnphool, I won't quote your last post because it's getting to the point of taking up an entire page...

We are simply interpreting their words differently.  I am a landowner the same as you and I don't condone anybody trespassing without permission.  Even if it is a Jeep that fell from the skies.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Let's not get it twisted, stick to the facts. Ignoring landowners rights is NOT his only option and should not be minimized based on out of pocket expense. Justifying trampling ones rights after making poor personal decisions for yourself is whats "ridiculous" here. :twocents:

Talking to the landowner and asking permission, assuming he can drive it down, would be first, but if the landowner said no, I wouldn't simply dismiss his refusal and do it anyway simply because it's cheaper.

If that option was removed  I would bend over and take the helicopter option.

A brand new jeep stuck on the side of a mountain, what does a new jeep cost- $30,000? It can't just be left there forever. Come on. And the helicopter option? Not even an option in my opinion. It's just ridiculous to think that a helicopter should be used, if there's any possible way it can be driven out of  there. It's already so close to the highway, it only makes sense to go down with it if that's possible. Why would the landowner even care? Fix whatever damage that may occur and throw in a couple hundred bucks on top of that. If I were the landowner I'd try to help the guy out as much as possible. He did a dumb thing and got himself in quite the predicament. Now it's time to get it off the mountain in the easiest and cheapest way possible. I would hope that most people would do what they could to help him out. I know I would.

That's fine Bob, but also a far cry from what you suggested in your last post.

Working with the land owner would be best, but for you to suggest ignoring the landowners decision and do it anyway if he refuses, is irresponsible, unethical and poor advice coming from a moderator. :twocents:

If Mark would just answer his phone or answer a text we could a least be closer to some closure of this situation. I'm pretty sure he has Hunt Wa  site info by now?

I wasn't giving advice, just stating my opinion. The owner of the jeep isn't reading this. I don't know if the landowner is even available for contact. Who knows, maybe he's in Mexico for the winter. If the landowner is available, and if driving the jeep down was the best option, I'd probably be telling him I'm coming through your property, like it or not. I can't imagine why the landowner would be unreasonable. The law of gravity is pretty much what takes precedence in this situation. Actually, didn't "Mark" already trespass once, when he walked out? It's not like it's the crime of the century. And if driving the jeep out doesn't cause any damage, then why would it matter?

He very well could be reading this? If you Google search "Stuck Jeep in Entiat" there's three sources that come up. On being HW.......
