Maybe the guy could borrow some Hookers or Bigger Diggers from someones sand sled  :chuckle:  Could probably find a logging operation with a skidder to rent too.  Rental plus fines would still probably be cheaper than a helo ride unless he could talk the Marines into using it as a training exercise.

Just curios RAd have you ever rented a hooker?  :chuckle: do they charge by the hour or by the minute?  :chuckle:

Last I remember, they charge by the "job".   :o

His second mistake was taking this long to get it out (first was going there).   He should have just let his balls drop and got out of the situation before everyone and their brother found out about this.

I'm sorry but I've got to laugh a little at those "the state shouldn't let him move it comments".   Can you imagine if the state (coasties) started patrolling the dirt roads and jeep trails?  Everyone would have to park and hand over their keys at the first hill with some mud on it.

I thought that somebody that had been down to the Jeep has already stated that going downhill was not an option. Besides. Look at the pics. Would you want to be the person even trying to turn that thing around to head down? Not me!

The state doesn't want to move it because, as usual, if the government gets involved, it will become 200% worse..
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

I've been down there and going up isn't a great option and going down is worse. There might be a way on the south side of the ridge but it looks like it gets steeper then where he is sitting, and already has been, before you get to the bottom.

Can't figure the orchard owner getting too worked up about egressing through the land. Granted, it is private property, but I say screw that. If the owner happens to be that petty and not grant permission for the extraction (though I would probably deny if it were my property and if asked for for access due to liability), take your fine or trespass ticket and get on with your life.   Personally, I don't really care about landowner "rights", if it were my land maybe I would but it's not so I don't really care. I don't know him (her, them?) so am not really worried if I were to trespass except as it may impact my other liberties. If the repercussions are more than my benefit,  I would not trespass and the inverse is true as well in this situation.

Not sure  where this $10k for the helicopter keeps popping up. We used to rent a copter that would be real close, if not capable, to getting this rig out. We would do an all day charter (8 flying hours) and it cost not much more than $10k.

Some of the comments here are ridiculous. If you see me stuck somewhere, feel free to leave your cameras in your car or man purse, I'd rather pictures of me didn't end up on hunt wa or anywhere online where I didn't post myself. I didn't read the whole thread, and not sure 100% of what happened, but seems like 99% of you never made a bad decision or a mistake..

Nope, most of us have made at least one mistake, some more. Not many have made a mistake this bad where others can easily see if though. Personally, if I had fond this I would expect to get massively flamed for my idiocy.

We use a heli crane that charge a 10k minimum.  I stated thi earlier so I think that's where it's coming from.
There's a lot of insurance involved compared to charter type flights

I'm going by the assumption that this guy Mark doesn't have much, if any, experience driving a 4x4 vehicle out in the mountains, and especially cross country like he did. So if that's the case, I could see how it wouldn't be that difficult to get himself into the situation that he did. Apparently he just thought with that jeep he was invincible. I don't hold it against him and I won't assume he's an idiot for one mistake that he made.

As for the cost of a helicopter to lift it out of there, all I know is the jeep in California that was stuck less than a year ago, was airlifted out, and the cost was $9,000.

So $10,000 doesn't seem like it could be too far off.

This one was a real obvious, *censored* mistake. I help people that get stuck, but, come on. This is on top of being very stupid, a first timer, who thinks 4WD can go anyplace, like advertised on TV, NOT !. He even had his kid with him...just think if that Jeep rolled, someone would of gotten really hurt or killed. I'll give him credit though, he stopped being an unsafe idiot. I hardcore jeeped for 10 years and I would never done that......

I see a missing third option here.  With a crafty enough approach perhaps Jeep would be interested in getting this out sooner than later.

Maybe Temsco is AK operated differently, which is likely with it being in AK, but we lifted boats, pallets of fish food, 48'x3' steel net pen walkways, bundles of lumber, fuel drums, etc. There was more than one load that the helicopter just could not lift. There were many others where we had to wait until the helicopter was getting light on fuel before we could lift it. We paid by the hour and chartered it anywhere from 4-12 hours annually. It broke down to about $31 per minute and I made sure the crew knew that if they were screwing off I was gonna start taking that $31/minute out of their wages😄
