Mr. Brandt would like me to pass on his regrets about this incident and to inform all of you that he doesn't care one iota about where this mini saga of a thread is posted but if he had a say, Fishing would be his choice. He says the 3000' of cable and the 4hr reel in was one of the hardest fought retrievals he has ever done. This is coming from a man who has landed a 879lb yellow fin off the coast of Maine in 2007. He realizes heels have been dug in, much like his tires in the soft hillside and although it doesn't make much sense for this thread to be in deer hunting when there more appropriate options he would point out that he did eventually manage to pull up from the depths of the Sea of Tears(enviro police created) his heaviest catch to date so still is optimistic this thread might make its way to fishing 🎣 I'm just the messenger and enjoying the 3hr tour on the S.S. Minnow with Mr. Brandt
Should have called AAA.
Quote from: turbo on March 09, 2015, 02:52:23 PMShould have called AAA. Might have worked. My truck broke once WAY out in the middle of nowhere in Idaho. I called AAA. I was 92 miles from the nearest town, and they said as long as it was not more than 100 miles, they would come pick it up. They sent a flatbed tow truck, and hauled it to the nearest dealership to be repaired.

Plus I would let that hill dry out a little bit before trying again, maybe june It's not that it's wet and needs to dry, it's like pea gravel. Would probably have better traction if it were wet and frozen.

I don't plan on getting stuck, but I don't think Mark did either and he was driving a Jeep. I don't drive a Jeep so I KNOW getting stuck is a distinct possibility, Jeep owners can't get stuck unless they just do not have the testicular fortitude
I have AAA Premier RV because it covers my motorcycles and truck and camper combo since I no longer have an "RV" but being 'premier" the towing is for 200 miles. my daughter had car troubles at the wild horses turnout above Vantage and the tow truck brought her and car all the way back to the mechanic shop of my choice in GMU 117

And he shouldn't!I would think that if you could get a log yarder to the top of that "hill" along with extra cable and 3-4 experienced loggers it could be out in half a day?can't think that'd be any cheaper than a copter ride. It takes a lot to move a yarder and get it set up and forget about it if it's on a job already. I worked under a yarder for a while so I have a good idea what it takes to move it and get setup.I'm not a logger and genuinely have no clue....but where would you anchor the sky line on the bottom end? And how far could you run this cable?

So it got uped real fast. It is a must have when long hauling for fishing and hunting trips.
