I wonder what his insurance company will say when they get the bill?  :o

I see a lot here about insurance, but, if his insurance is anything like mine, he's got a cap on actual amount, distance or some type of qualifier. Maybe I've got an unusual policy but I can't see any insurance company today allowing their exposure to something as stupid and expensive as this situation. Even if they would pay this crazy bill, the guy's going to get sticker shock when his policy comes up for renewal.   :yike:

The article claims that the USFS was initially not even going to allow him back on the hill slope.  I wonder if that meant on foot also, and by what legal mechanism they could do so.  My guess is that there is none, or none applicable in this case.

Am hearing Wenatchee world online is saying tow bill is $17,200... :yike:
[/quot

Hahaha that will teach him.

Oh yeah, rape him into submission... works every time.  :bash:

The guy made a mistake everyone does some are just more costly then others. And if it doesnt teach him he should have to pay what it cost to get him outta his pickle again. Iam not sayin he should even be fined by the forest circus, dnr. Or  game dept. That price is what it cost the tow company to recover the vehicle. Why is that bad?

Sounds like it may have been cheaper to fly it off the mountain.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

That is what I was thinking!  I think I would have don a bit more homework on the whole situation, maybe he did but it does not sound like it.

Kind of funny that they "found" a quicker way in up Crum Canyon, that is how I accessed the area and had to scratch my head when they said a gate was closed when I had just been up there.

Not often the cost of your new Jeep almost doubles two days after buying it without putting a whole lot of good bolt ons. Betting he is thinking a winch, jack, Pulaski, GPS, Forest service maps, etc. would have been cheap by comparison now.  :chuckle:

Bet he is thinking that last six pack was awful expensive.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

I was thinking the same thing. Who's "they" the Forest Service?

One would think the FS would know their terrain better :bash: :bash:...Did I actually just say that :chuckle:  :sry:

Seems pretty expensive for a couple days work with a medium sized tow truck..........

Probably should have gotten a quote first
Well consider that truck is out of service for anything else. Plus at least one guy as well for those 2 days. How many other calls would that truck have made? I looked into a tow truck recently, you might be shocked what it costs just to have one. I would have flat told him "it will cost what it costs".

Ford had a car towed to us in Bellevue  from wenatchee because the dealer there couldn't fix it. Roadside assistance covered the first 35 miles. It was 140-some odd miles and the tow bill was almost $600. About 2.5 hour drive. A job like that was most likely billed out straight time by the hour. Crazy how it would get to $17k but it does add up quick.

The insurance company sure shouldn't cover it.  :bash:

Keep in mind that your auto insurance pays for jack wagons who don't wear their seatbelt and have their head sticking out of a car window.

Our health insurance premiums are also jacked way up to pay for coronary stents for chain smokers and fatty mcfat faces.
