If I had that tag Shane wouldn't be where I would be looking...
Were you at the Auction or bidding online? Usually at the auction there are guys lined up to help you once you win the tag...
I would say St Helans for sure  ;)

the kapowsin tree farm is the best trophy elk hunt on the west side of the state. if you spend 20 grand for a west side gov tag (wansnt sure there was one) spend another 350 bucks and hold out for a 380+ bull. if your an even half way decent hunter theres no reason you couldnt shoot a bull that caliber in there with 4 months to hunt it

As long as he's not concerned with the west of I-5 thing.

PS Washington tags are not technically what other states call Governors tags. Just auction tags.

Yes but if you want a true Roosevelt maybe you wouldn't be concerned with a 380 bull.....

True, I forgot about the I-5 thing.  But I wouldn't let that stop me, some of those bulls look 100% rosey to me.  I have one on the wall that you would swear and I think it is 100% rosey that came west of I-5.  But if he's worried about the record books then the kapowsin is out.  Mabye he will get back on the site and explain a bit more?

I'm not sure it would stop me either but if you had a room full of big Bulls and wanted a big roosevelt to add to your collection or put in the books, what would you do? I'm sure he will be back. He bought the auction tag last night though. That's what he's saying. Paid $19k for it.

19,000 seems like a bargain! Sure would be nice to have that tag, I'd have to take a leave of absence from work!

there are bulls bigger than 380 west of I5.  I haven't seen any live ones, but there are some heads in houses/lodges and a some skulls/dropped antlers from bulls 380+.  Not saying they are in great numbers.  I think one at Lake Crescent is pushing 430.

I'm pretty sure you're not going to hunt Hancock without drawing one of their permits. I suppose if you did by chance happen to draw, you'd also have to ask if they'd let you in there for the entire auction tag season. I read on here they did let the guy in there last year, each season, with the multi season tag, but that wasn't a continuous season.???
By the way, anyone know if that guy happened to get one?

If some one wanted a big Rosie and was gona pay 20k then Vancouver Island would prolly be the best place to go, but then again I've never seen a 430 west side bull..what's the SCI #1 Rosie at ? 427 ?

If you can find a 350+ true Rosie genetic than your doing pretty good....you won't find that in the SW so it's going to be the NW areas...

Good luck to the op

Coastal Inlet Adventures out of BC has Roosevelt hunts along the BC coast that go for $25000. There has been a couple of Roosevelt bulls taken out of that area over 400 inches. The world record muzzleloader Roosevelt bull was taken there a few years back. There are a couple guys (whose names I won't say) out of the Shelton and Belfair area who have harvested a few of those bulls. As I understand it the genetics for those elk originate from the Olympic Peninsula and were transplanted to Vancouver Island and then those elk were transplanted from there to the BC coast.
GO COUGS!
