Stopped by the Sportsman in Wenatchee yesterday and they had a pallet of 855 in the metal boxes on the floor 209.50 per box
XM855 on strippers in 30 cal cans is usually a 420 count.

Educate me on the, " Strippiers " ? What do you do with them, spend an hour or so taking all the loaded ammo out of the clips to use them ? I'm not being a smart arse, since I honestly do know. Is it worth it to buy it that way is what I'm getting too....
Still not that great a price.....A guy can find 1000 rounds of ammo for under $350 all day long. Is there something special about this M855 that I don't know about??

You can still own it and use it, but won't be able to buy from retail. Think of it more investment like--when it isn't on the shelves in a year what will gun show prices be?

If so then why would the price go up. Is there a huge following for the 855? Is it better than the commercial .223? Just trying to learn, not trying to be sarcastic.
Actually, I think this is illegal for Big Ears to do this and he's trying to overstep the constitution again for his own agendas from what I understand.
John, these are the standard green tip, commonly called" AP" rounds that our government is currently taking comments towards a proposed ban. Most supplies have already dried up.

It will cause another buying frenzy and even normal 223 will be nearly impossible to get and it won't be cheap. Hurts everyone in the shooting sport for sure. I'm sure glad I don't shoot a 223.
This blasting ammo, correct shoot it up and save the cases, not useful for any kind of hunting or target work, maybe the government should use it up and quit making new and leave some powder and primers for the civilians. There is plenty of import stuff out there for even cheaper. I have 13 or 14 boxes of 55gr ball ammo in stripper clips and bandoleers that I'd sell for $7.00/ box picked up.
Gouging? That's $3.00/ box(20rnds) cheaper, for US made ammo in LC cases.
So what's the big deal about the green tipped that is double the price of other ammo that will do the same thing.
Quote from: AWS on March 01, 2015, 06:23:07 PMSo what's the big deal about the green tipped that is double the price of other ammo that will do the same thing. There really isn't that much difference in the ammo, but the feds want to ban what they feel is more destructive than just normal ammo. So you have people paying inflated prices for ammo they believe will be banned. Which will increase the price of normal ammo because, folks will just buy anything they find.

The fact that it isn't that great of ammo is irrelevant, people want it because they think it's magical if the AFT wants it banned.
