Here's a few heads iv done for friends and family members I want to get in to the taxidermy stuff but I just like doing the skull mounts,horn mounts I get asked from friends or family if I'd practice for a shoulder mount but that's a lot of work I like how the skulls look when I'm done any comments or tips on what I got to work on from the pros would be nice or if I'm doing something wrong on these heads
Look closely to the bear skull on the eye socket u can see a deep cut line it when I did that bear skull for a friend it has one of his broad heads stuck in the eye socket it was cool to see that

I boil the skulls with sodium carbonate and then I pull the skull out and rinse them with a high powered water hose or a good nozzle tip on the hose then once all flesh is off I let air dry for about long enough where the skull is a lil damp still then I mix up the bleach paste and I put about a 1/8-1/4 thick layer on skull and I leave skull on table for about 3 days with paste then I rinse it off and skull is way bright all my friends and a family like it a lot they keep coming back every year I like the method a lot never had a problem of skull getting brittle in boiling water I got the time down good on when to pull it out then put back in pot

Anybody that ask me to do a shoulder mount I always tell them to go find a pro that does it I had a bobcat done fireside taxidermy in toledo so I give his number out and tell people to go see Charlie I hear lots of good things from both of these guys that do everything but I never hear back from my friends or whoever on who they went thru to get the shoulder mount done

Thanks ya I am fully done with the mount in 2 weeks or less it take my couple hours to the the deer skulls and a day for the elk skull to have the bleach paste on it but it takes a week an a half to 2 weeks to get the plaques I order for everybody that's the longest wait time for me to get fully done with the mount I really want to pursue this art more but I don't want to do it full time so it be just a part time thing I don't know what I would have to do if I just do it part time

Learn to degrease your skulls. Unless it is the lighting those skulls have yellowed from grease or what ever you have sprayed on them to make them shiny

Call me funny...but I kind of like the yellow / natural bone look.  I also like the pure white ones, but they definitely don't look natural.

Ya I get a lot of comments on the yellow I think it's from the bone because I don't use household bleach or anything that color but I like the two colors the white and yellow

Ive been doing skulls now for several years and average about 100 a year. You will find right off the bat that some guys like there skulls egg shell white (CLEAN), and some guys like their skulls more natural with the yellowing and darker colors in the skull (GREASY).   Im not one to divulge too may secrets but will tell you this.  Work on keeping all the nasal bones in tacked, and try to remove as much grease from the skull as possible.  You can still achieve the natural look and have a clean skull.  If you do start to get more and more clients after getting a business license your turn around time will definitely increase, especially if you have a day job.  Oh and two last things bleach is a bad bad word and high pressure water is a bad bad thing.  Peroxide is the only safe way to whiten a skull.  If you have any questions PM me.

Yes if you accept ANYTHING for doing these. They told me "even a bagged lunch" so even though you might not get money for doing it make sure you're not even doing a favor for favor etc.
