looking at buying my first spotting scope
« on: May 02, 2015, 11:10:35 AM »
Well looking at my buying my first spotting scope looking at the vortex viper 15x45x60 or the diamondback 20x60x60. Don't really want to go big of a lense. What would you guys suggest an the reasoning why. What would be much clearer at long range distance an identification. Thanks!!

the more money you pay the better the scope, unless someone is unloading a scope for a decent price.   mike w

I have a viper hd 15-45 and like it very well. It was in my budget and had good reviews. Didnt have the funds to go much higher. Would have liked to have the razor hd but couldnt drop that coin.
I am very pleased with my choice. And the vortex warranty after i broke my spotter in half.
The moose pic is through my spotter at 350 plus yards.

To clarify the broken spotter i feel is not due to it not being durable... it took a pretty good tumble out of the truck in the heat of battle while moose hunting.   :chuckle: rocks arent friendly on spotters. Im not sure many would have survived.
