1,000 YARDS FROM A $500 RIFLE RUGER'S AMERICAN PREDATOR
« on: March 04, 2015, 10:17:10 PM »
I thought this was interesting....

1,000 YARDS FROM A $500 RIFLE RUGER'S AMERICAN PREDATOR
When I unboxed the Predator, I found a skinny little tapered barrel, a light composite stock, and a surprisingly smooth action. I say surprising because there was really nothing remarkable about the rifle other than the action. Admittedly, I did not have high expectations for the predator. It is a deceptively modest gun. Can a rifle that retails for less than $500 makes hits at 1,000 yards?

I was lucky and got one of the first ones out on the market in 308 win. It has been a great gun and they are tuff to find. None of my distributors have had any of the 308's 243 or 6.5's in stock in the last 4 months.

Yea i recently bought one in 223 and couldn't be happier.

i won't be shooting 1000 yards with it ever. Still happy.
A remarkable experience is one where the pain is forgotten so quickly, the frustrations and struggles are forgotten the minute you’re done.

I can’t wait to do it the next time.

I have been running it for about 6 months. It shoots lights out with anything I have shot through it. I am running a 210 match king at only around 2200 fps. It's very quiet with those loads. A suppressor will quiet down any rifle. They really shine with the subsonics or slower loads. Subsonic loads are spooky quiet in any rifle.

Some distributors seem to favorites from certain firearm manufactures. Apparently the 9 I can buy from are not there favorites :chuckle: I talked to ruger at shot show and they said they are making like 1,000 a week which I called bs on. Told them I can't even find one and they said many wholesalers have them. I said which one. The guy named 3 that I buy from and I showed him on my phone that they don't have any. He didn't want to talk to me any more :chuckle:

Sweet!!  It is great to hear that playing in the 1000yrd arena is not longer just a rich mans game.  More and more high quality rifles and scopes are hitting the market at a price-point more people can afford.

If looking for glass, this vid has a couple..  They used a Savage 10 for their basis, but should be about the same total $...
