I don't fold in the middle as well as I used to, so built up a seat that is about 13" tall, with a foam pad.  I attached to two molded plastic step stools ($3.95 each at Ikea) back to back. I glued some camo fabric to the outside surface to complete the effect.  Here is my ass on it:

I added a short length of parachute cord and wood handle (similar to the tote I use for dragging coyotes out) to make it less awkward to schlep around.
Live all you can: It’s a mistake not to.

I've seen camo'ed 5 gal buckets with lids used before too. Same as a "duck" bucket. That way you can store stuff in it. Probably a little taller than your seat I wouldn't want to pack a 5 gal bucket 8 or 9 miles though. Especially if it was full of hunting stuff. Maybe for the shorter excursions.

I use the Nimrod Thermaseat.  No picture on their site http://www.nimrodpacks.com/index.html but it is actually a MSR bacpacking pillow tthat they have put inside of a camo cover.  It's one of those pillows with the air valve on it that you cna open and roll up pretty tight.  I hook it onto my belt but it can be hooked onto your pack or whatever.  I think they are around $40 and best of all made in good old Cashmere WA!

I have the Hunter Specialties turkey vest that has a detachable seat, and one of those duck hunter packs with the internal frame and a pad so you can recline comfortably.

What I do is get one of those stadium seat pads like a foot square or whatever, it's just a 1 inch thick piece of foam pad and a hole in it for a handle, just tie a lanyard to it and to your belt and when your not using it, slip it up under your jacket. Then it is out of your way and it will help keep you warm as well.  :twocents:

we use these. they have some back support and they have about a gallon zip up pouch hanging off the bottom. I've seen them made in an extra large version as well.
