my first deer
« on: March 05, 2015, 08:46:54 PM »
I passed hunter safety course at cabelas this year at 9 years old! :IBCOOL: walked in a gate about half a mile and took a quad trail and he was laying under a big fir tree and dark timber and when he smelled and saw us he stood up. My dad set up my shooting sticks. That's when I aimed my gun. He looked with his binoculars and told me it was a buck. that's when I " tried" to shoot but it did not do anything. I forgot to chamber a round. :bash: my dad heard the click and quickly reached over and did it for me. Then I shot and dropped him!  8) after that, I went and called almost everybody I knew while my dad gutted it. I was so happy I cried  :'(
Thank you to my dad HornHunter1987 for everything you have helped me accomplish in my hunting and non hunting life. Love you so much!

Totally awesome first deer. I can't wait until my little girl is old enough for me to take out hunting!

There is something just indescribably painful about being stuck behind a prius on the interstate.

Did you run into 2 hunters on your way out and talk to them? Your Dad was carrying your deer on his shoulders? If so that was my dad and I. Very nice deer and a great start to a lifelong passion

Well done. This past summer I forgot to chamber a round while bear hunting. Still smile about it. Keep it up young lady and thanks for sharing.

After you guys walk away we felt like idiots for not offering to help. You seemed to have It under control, but still we should have offered.

ya we had it. thanks for the thought though. she packed both rifles and the heart like a little champ. I was glad the deer wasn't any bigger than it was by the time we got back to the truck though.
