Some important issues that I want to emphasize.

1. H-W is a forum for individuals to express their own viewpoints. We encourage family friendly civil discussion. Individual viewpoints are not a statement of the policy or viewpoints of H-W Forum. Please don't assume that because you read something posted by someone that it's H-W policy.

2. H-W policies and viewpoints are determined by discussion between the moderators, admins, and myself the owner Dale (bearpaw). If you want to know H-W policies read the stickied topics, contact one of the mod team, or contact Dale (bearpaw).

3. H-W encourages an atmosphere where hunters help each other.

4. H-W also encourages commercial advertising by legal and reputable businesses that we feel will be of interest to our members. This ranges from guides to goods, to real estate, to legal services.

5. Free advertising is provided for private one time sales of items. Breeders and commercial advertisers must become a sponsor to advertise, these sponsor fees are what pay the bills for this forum to stay online.

JM, why isn't Luke starting threads himself instead of you doing it? Offers to help someone get into critters are great and as RT mentioned, he's been a big help to a few members is that capacity. But without hearing from the guy personally and getting from him just what the deal is, it sounds suspicious and being that it's a guide service and not just some guy, has the potential to undermine the paying guide services who sponsor our site. It would be great if your friend could make an appearance and explain what he's all about. I would imagine it would go best under Partners, Swaps, etc.

If you had read my post instead of assumed what it was about then you would know that I was only referring to Luke and not starting a thread for him.

Read up and tell me what you think about free guide services

Regarding free guide services.

I applaude anyone that takes the time to share knowlege, assist in a hunt, provide whatever level of guiding they chose to, and help a fellow hunter. It can be as simple as taking a buddy crabbing or helping a person fill a OIL tag.

JM, thanks for letting us know about the nice service Luke is offering. The site owner has already given the go ahead for Luke's post. I didn't assume anything and I worded my response very carefully so as not to offend. Unbunch your panties and quit taking it personally. If you don't like the site, as your first post would indicate (who's bickering now?), don't post. Go to the Guys Wearing Bunched Panties site instead and complain on there. I won't be responding further.

To me Free Guide service is a touchy subject. I see both sides of it and I have never met Luke just heard about him and if we are just discussing free guiding it doesnt really matter who we are talking about anyways. I have a personal interest in this because I guide in the Blues for Western Life Outfitters from time to time as a paid guide for Dave. When I am guiding its normal to refer to those people as clients or my hunters etc, even though by the end of the hunt we have become good friends. If I am helping someone out on a hunt , no money involved ,we are hunting partners or friends, buddies whatever. I guess what I am getting at is with all the hunting forums, facebook ,etc if a guy wanted to go on other peoples hunts for free you sure dont need a website/guide service to get that opportunity. Heck when the draws come out every year I get calls and emails from many people that I could take hunting for free but out of respect for Daves business I dont plus I don't have the time to do that and hunt myself anyways. Hunting certainly shouldnt be all about the money but there is no doubt outfitting and guiding and hunting are important to each other. Some of us will never need a guide and some people hire one every year. My folks are horse packers/outfitters and I know how much work these type of people do in the backcountry keeping trails open and helping get people back in that beautiful country with their animals that otherwise couldn't. Its the respect I have for these folks and their livelihood that makes me think less of a free guide service when others are having to pay for permits and insurance etc to do the same thing. There is a reason the Forest Service has permitted areas for outfitters so that the wilderness isnt over run with outfitters and guides but yet there can be a few in these areas to provide services to those that need them and they can make a living doing it. If we all take people in there for free who will need to hire the permitted outfitter? Taking friends or kids is one thing but someone you dont know is different.  If you want to do it for free, do it ,but you don't need to advertise it and refer to people as clients and make it appear to be a business. I dont intend to argue about this its just my thoughts and not aimed at anyone in general.

I don't look at this site too much during the off season, because of the constant bickering and arguing. ....
