Winchester Model 70 Stainless Featherweight All-Terrain in 30-06 topped with a Leupold 3-9x40 Vari-X 2.  Can see...can hit with my handloads which are OLD school (and unobtainium now) Winchester brass with a WLR primer, undisclosed charge of IMR 4350 and a 165 grain Nosler Solid base.  And no..the BT does NOT shoot the same and the old Solid Base.

In fact..if anyone HAS any orphan 165 grain Solid Base bullets...I'd be interested in taking them off your hands.

sporterized WWII Enfield 30-06

Hey Maggie, do you have a scope on your Enfield. I was gifted one by my grandpa couple months before he passed away. Anyways what scope mounts do you have on yours? I was thinking of possibly putting a scope on it or leaving as is haven't decided. Just curious how much it may cost to find mounts for it haven't been very successful finding any that say they will fit mine. It's already tapped.  thanks

:)a rifle my brother built for me: Squared and trued Whitworth action, douglas air gauge barrel, HS stock, timney trigger, glass bedded, 300 WM. Been using it for many, many years. Killed my  biggest Elk, Black Bear and deer with it. Made the longest shots I ever made with it. very consistant .75 inch 100 yard groups. Wears a Leupold VX III, 3.5X10X50, in Leupold mounts.
It has Karma and does not miss

What if my favorite big game rifle is a pistol?  :dunno::chuckle:

Surprisingly, my go to rifle is one of the only stock, factory guns that I own. In a safe full of custom, semi custom, and slapped together parts guns, the Ruger Hawkeye Alaskan in 375 Ruger is the most reliable gun I have. It has the smoothest action, the most perfect balance, and it's in a great all round caliber. With the VX-3 2.5-8 scope and a couple of 260gr Accubonds I can't think of anything that isn't in for a heap of trouble inside of 400 yards. Ironically I've yet to take any critters larger than a porcupine with it. :chuckle:

Not very fancy but my marlin 336 30-30 has served me well so far. That being said I've only taken 1 deer in 3 years of hunting, but it just feels nice.

For me it all depends on what I'm hunting and where.  Here is one of my favorites. Super blackhawk 44mag  w/ 10.5" stainless.  I dropped the scope for open sites now.
