Tikka T3 Lite
« on: March 13, 2015, 09:18:55 PM »
I just purchase a t3 in 308.  I have never owned a 308 and have passed my trusty 270 down to my 12 year old.  I also bought a Vortex Crossfire II 4-12x50mm with BDC.  I have heard mixed reviews on the rings that come with the tikka.  Will they work fine with a guy that just sights in his gun and hunts?  Thanks.

With a 50mm objective, you probably will

Aftermarket. Factory ring usually will fit no larger than 44mm

I used a Deadnutz Gamereaper low for a 44mm bell.
You'd want medium.
Really the best mount out there.

I like these and I think they look better than the factory or Warne.  Thanks for the suggestion

When you get a T3 lite:

1. Put on a limbsaver recoil pad, unless its a small cartridge
2. Buy Talley lightweights in the appropriate height
3. Back out the trigger weight screw all the way
4. Go kill stuff

Pretty much where I stand, except:  small or large cartridge, the LS pads allows for a very secure shoulder to rifle butt connection, I found the Talley steel base and rings much more secure (my Zeiss is a 44mm bell) and the trigger screw (after being set for what weight pull you're comfortable with), should have a drop or so of nail polish applied over the screw head to help minimize any subsequent movement of the trigger screw.

BTW - great choice in rifles.  The T3, since it's inception, has replaced all other brands except one Rem. 300 Ultra Mag in my modest collection, to include a Sako 75 in 25-06 for a 25-06 in the T3.  I would have switched out the 300 Ultra Mag, as well, but last I looked, Tikka doesn't offer the 300 Ultra Mag.  When and if they do, so will I.

Good luck and enjoy.

Winchester Model 70 with a Lilja barrel, B&L 1.5x-6x scope, Ram-Line stock, chambered to .358 Norma Magnum.  Shoots 250 grain bullets as fast as the 30-06 throws 180's.

Well I went with the DNZ game reaper and I have to say when I was sighting it in the scope did move a bit, but it was installer error.  It was a bit loose.  Tighten it up and it was awesome.  Thanks all..
