I've applied in years past but am sitting it out this year. Odds kind of suck with how they changed the outfitter pool  >:(

Sitting this one out as well...   It is basically a waste of time for most areas but specifically for the areas I want to hunt.

I hope someday they will increase out of state odds, but until then, I probably wont try again.    :bash: :'(

So my buddy said that if we don't get drawn for the September archery hunt that we can buy OTC tags for the late archery hunt in December. Is this correct? Anyone ever hunt the late archery hunt out there in December?

The 4th choice hunts or whatever? If you have lots of spare time and disposable income: yes. I would think Colorado or Wyoming would be a far better option  :twocents:

Yeah, I hear ya Bean! The only reason I'm going to go is just because I got the invite from a buddy who had been out there a few times and has the lo-down. Thanks for the heads up! I'm definitely going to hit you up for a little AZ info again if you don't mind. I'm moving to San Diego at the end of the week and am hoping to get into hunting AZ a little more as it's not too long of a drive for me. And from what I hear the hunting in Southern Ca isn't the greatest.

I also gave up, the way they stick it to the DIY non resident now is just ridiculous.  Too bad, have had a lot of fun down there.  Here's from our last trip.

Wow! That's a beauty. Well I guess the plan is, if we don't get drawn we're going to get an OTC archery tag for a December hunt

Valles Caldera results are out.  No VC elk tag for me this year.

Since the VC will be a National Park beginning in October of this year, not sure they will continue the hunts in 2016 and beyond.  Good news is that they have agreed to consider it.  Bad news is that if they do, it will become another hunt under NM G&F.  I liked the VC lottery, as you didn't have to send your $800 bucks in for the tag until you were drawn.
