Whiffling Cackler
« on: April 10, 2015, 08:18:29 AM »
Wanted something different than I have seen in other mounts and wanted to see something like we saw the day the bird died.  Turned out how I wanted.

I'm not a waterfowl guy.
Thanks

Cool mounts, you guys.

I shot a B-52 of a Western whiffling right on the deck one day - huge bird. I'd never seen the really big ones do it before. Drove way out of my way to check him in because the Woodland station had closed early. Some young kid at the Ridgefield refuge tagged him as a Dusky and there was no way it was. Three other guys there at the station said "you can't punch his card for that bird. He's enormous." He did though. It was second to the last day of the season and he told me I could leave the bird with him to contest it. No way I was leaving that beautiful bird. I should've had him stuffed.
