Just curious how many pts did it take. For 8?
10 points unless they count this year.

Yes, if you're looking at the results they post after the draw, they would count you as having 11.

That sounds about right.  Not positive, but I would imagine that there are not any NR tags that make it through the 20% bonus pass for the Unit 8 archery tag, meaning you need to be in the max pool to have any shot at drawing.

I was considering Unit 8 several years ago and thought at the time it would take about 8 points to draw as NR.   So with some points creep, 11 makes sense at this point.

Results are out now both online and by phone. My dad drew 5bs early archery bull. Guess i will be back in az in september to guide him. I guided in this unit last year and put my client on some BIG bulls that he opted not to take a shot at. Heres to hoping i can do the same this year for my pops.

Congrats on the elk draw in 5bs.  We had 5bn couple years back and seen some good bulls. Left with one bull and we ate the other tag. Are you in AZ or here in WA Good luck on your hunt

Thank You! We are going to take full advantage of our first Arizona Elk tags. The anticipation is extremely high right now. 5 months and 2 days to go. Taking three weeks off for the hunt. Started Eating right, lots of cardio, and dropping some #'s. It is a lot harder to get in shape than I remember it being.
Thank You again,
John

It's official now.  16 points and counting.

Tied with you for elk with 16...drew an antelope tag in 2012 so back to five (with 2 extra points)

Nice, are you closing in on the elk tag you want?  I think I'm still a couple years out on my tag.  Once I draw, I'm only going to apply for easy to draw hunts from here on out.  Not going to wait until I'm 65 to draw another tag.

WAcoueshunter and soccerguy  I was just curious if you were archery or muzzeloader or modern  in AZ  :dunno:  congrats on that many points your time is coming soon.

I'm archery.  Not in a rush.  After I draw this unit, I'll probably start applying for some of the later rifle bull units that you can draw without too many points.

Holding  out for early rifle tag.   I have a lot of patience so can wait a few more years if necessary.  Drew a great Wyoming elk tag this year which makes the waiting easier.
