Bear setup!!
« on: March 23, 2015, 09:37:19 AM »
Wondering what people are using? This is my first year attempting bear i have 55# 28 in draw and not sure about arrow/broad-head  yet. Was thinking 425-450 grains.

Have you archery hunted before?  Most use the same as they would for deer and elk.

Anything you would use for deer will be sufficient for black bears.  :twocents:

This was my second year for deer and first for elk in the P.N.W.  I took a deer my first season using a 300 arrow and a 125 muzzy. And i believe i was using only a 45#. Would have had a pass through but arrow stuck in the armpit and broke it.  Also, came close with the elk last year. Great time hunting here so far.

Go to a good pro shop and get their advise on what you should be using.  Arrows are not like bullets.  You should have one set up that meets all hunting needs in Washington.
This has been discussed many times on this site.  Do a search and you will find good information.  55# is plenty for Washington you just need arrows and broadheads that match you bows needs.   :twocents:

I'd screw a Thunderhead 125 on your arrow and go kill a bear!
