Kitty rug complete!
« on: March 22, 2015, 09:52:02 PM »
Howdy folks!

Just got my bobcat rug back from Peter's Taxidermy! Think it turned out great, considering I made them work for their money  :)

First off, this was the first thing I've downed ever besides birds growing up on the farm. So my skinning abilities are limited but I did it myself! I had some trouble skinning around the eyes so they did what they could to make it look its best. One of the eyes as you will see was pretty bad, that one seemed damaged from either a cat fight or some sort of injury. Anyways.... I took pictures throughout the process, enjoy!

Just before skinned:

Skinned and tanned:

In progress; you can see the work needed around the eyes:

And completed:

Thanks guys!

Thinking maybe the best way to help cover the black around they eyes would be to color match and try and brush in some color to simulate hair in those areas? I feel like it would show up less to do that than the heavy black.

What do you think?

awesome  the eye looks good it gives it character.
you could brush in some color I think it would work but be really carful when your doing it. as long as you don't mind if it doesn't look as good as you think when you do it.
