« on: March 23, 2015, 02:38:50 PM »
Dates are set for me and my crew. April 26-29. Best tides of the month. Anyone else gonna be there? This will be 15 consecutive years for me. :fishin:

I'm hoping to head out but I have alot of other thing going on around that time. I went out two weeks ago in Neah bay for bottom fish and the bite was nonstop all day for everything. There was lots of big lings then too! Landed 3 or 4 that were at least 10 pounds and lost one right at the boat that was well over that, not to mention i dont know how many smaller one that were probably bigger than the 22 inch minimum. Plenty of seabass, greenling and cabezon too!

Nice fish Ouch. Getting outside of tatoosh helps bring the size up some. Looks like you had great water that day. You or DIY gonna be over there while I am there? My spot outside tatoosh give ya these all day long.

You couldn't have had any better weather the weekend I was there. Very little wind, blue sky, 3 o'clock high tide and not too harsh of tide either. My boat isn't quite big enough to feel safe going all the way out to Tatoosh. I mainly stayed on the west side of Waadah island right at the drop off and it was fish on the whole time. I cant be too certain on being there or not because I am expecting a child around that time!

Gonna have to pick your brain about my boat setup.  Won't be able to run this year but need to get rigged to run next year if it is safe enough.

Not much to set up IMO, a safe boat, rods (I prefer spinning) with 30-50 lb braid, some jigs (2-10 oz), a depthfinder, and a net.    :chuckle:

Absolutely! Hit me up. As Loki said, its easy. Lings are always hungry, just gotta drop a jig in front of them.

I will be out there fishing may 1-4th, hoping to restock the freezer.  I am down to only a couple of fillets of LC left!

Nice fish Ouch. Getting outside of tatoosh helps bring the size up some. Looks like you had great water that day. You or DIY gonna be over there while I am there? My spot outside tatoosh give ya these all day long.

Hmmm, My father and I's new boat is much more capable than our last, might have to give that a try if the seas are reasonable.  Any honey holes or general pointers you are willing to share? Are you staying in the more shallow water or chasing them out on the deep water reefs near where the continental shelf drops off? Most of the fish I cautch around seal rock are not too much larger than the 22" min, and it sure would be nice to get a few bigger ones in US waters.

Any of the rocks south of tatoosh hold lings. We fish in 250'+ most of the time. If you arent coming over til May 1, you have to adhere to the 120' max depth rules. That kicks in on May 1. Lots of lings in shallow water at this time of year. Besides, once outside, your limit of seabass goes from 6 to 10. And you get to add in regular rockfish as well.

If memory serves me correct you can go deep on halibut days for lings
