For all you Snake Hunters
« on: March 24, 2015, 09:02:35 AM »
For those that want to go snake hunting here is the prize of the day captured in TN wish it was mine

Just saw this from WTOC Mike Manhatton: Pat Long and his son in a blind to hunt hogs near Midway when this guy poked his head in! Pat's son shot the snake... it's 9'6" long... with 22 rattles, the head more than five inches wide, the fangs 2.5" long. Anybody going for a walk in the woods this weekend? Share with your friends and see who has good snake stories!
What would you do if you came across this guy in the woods!?

Years ago I was stationed at Ft. Campbell KY and those big timber rattlers were known to be on the base.  Made me very nervous when I hunted whitetail and quail on the base.  Neighbor killed one that was over 6' in an area I chased deer, really made you watch where you stepped.  That thing is a monster!

Holy Schnikes!!

That big *censored* would certainly get your attention in a hurry, at least it sure would mine. :yike:

It'd be cool to have been the one to shoot it but I wouldn't have wanted to be introduced to that monster like that.  I'd much rather see something like that, longggggggggggggggg, before it saw me.  That thing will look HUGE skinned out and laying flat.

I'VE BEEN HOAXED!!! You doubters who questioned the super snake are probably right! Since somebody in our area sent the photo, with his real name and where he worked, and named a friend, I thought it was legit!

That's what I get for trying to have fun on Friday! Sorry!

I found that he posted this on his FB page.

Edited: So, I did a google search of that pic and found that it has been circulating since around 2013 with multiple locations, lengths, weights, and stories surrounding it.
Here is a page that has the whole story if you're interested:

Forgive me for not doing the total research on the original post. Regardless of where that snake was killed it is still one big MFer.
Biggest one I ever killed while back in NC @ Lejeune, I stretched the skin diagonally on a sheet of plywood 8 1/2 feet long and 14 inches wide at the widest point.
