I'm sure that little trip off the seat and onto the floor it took didn't help :bash: It might be time to send it in for service :dunno:

THis bites.  Since you guys are shooting all those big deer and sheep I decided to shoot some birds.  Had some great kingfisher shots. ALL SOFT.  It worked fine after that Rob for a long time.  Not sure whats up.  It jsut started happening.  KNOW any good Canon dealers on my side of the mountain?

It has to be boxed up and sent to Canon service in California.  You get a repair authorization first off the website and put a copy of that in with the lens.  Then cross your fingers it is less than 4 digits...

I am trying to decide if I want it for one more weekend of POSSIBLE phot ops or ship it and be out of luck for the last of the bucks holding on.  I guess there are always sheep and the elk will be able to be photo oped for a bit.
The good news is I found my warranty which I couldn't for the longest time.   I was producing diamonds out the ole sphincter for awhile.

Your right Bone, that could be what it is now. When it was new I think it was a little more.

I paid 1599 for mine with a $250 kit lens included...but I was the first one around to have one so i paid the premium.

Canon service is fast.  They fixed it and put it in the mail yesterday.  It is tracking to be to me tomorrow.  I hope they are flying it in with all the flooding...

You think thats bad, I paid the same amount for the 20D package when it first came out, but like you I was one of the first. M-Ray just picked one up like new for $250 :bash:

Yeah, I forgot to tell you that I slipped when out shooting sheep last week with your camera.  Do you want all the pieces or just the main part of the body?

Hey Bone, have you figured out which way they are out of focus, + or -? You could always try adjusting your diopter to compensate for it, that might get it closer so you can then resharpen them with CS2/CS3?

Phool…  I don’t know that they are just out of focus… its that they are just dead… light is dead…everything seems to have gone to chit??? Is that a correct assessment Doug??
E

Ray..did you get cam and a low end lens for $250 or just the body?? I may have to delve into the DSLR world if I can find one that cheap!

I don't believe it is a focus issue.  I have looked at the images and it does not appear to be back or front focusing.  Even if it was, the 40D can't micro-adjust focus as that is a feature that is only on the new 50D.  Adjusting the diopter won't accomplish that.  My guess is it just got out of whack.  Service will go through it and put it back in spec.

They look like they are all shot at 3000 ISO.   They are just all grainy with no sharp focal point.  Lots of noise.  Think they are bad on here, when I pull up the pic and look at actual pixals its enough to make you sick.  I see better after a fifth of 151.  I've been dinking but other than banging it on the floor a couple times (can't quite bring myself into doing it) not sure what else to do.

It was a deal on just the Camera body ... I bought it from a pro that used it very little as a back up because he had a 40D and a 5D. The camera had about 2k actuation's on it and looks brand new.

No, but Canon can as they have special software.  People have created software to do this for the Rebels and I think some of the 1 series cameras...  Some of the xxD series can be figured out but not the 40D.
