Best arrows.
« on: March 25, 2015, 07:10:02 AM »
I am looking for some arrows that have some weight to them.  I just bought another bow and I am setting it up to be my hunting bow.  Hoyt Turbotec 30" draw, 80lbs.  I have been doing a lot of research.  I currently shoot 7595 Gold Tip Hunter and I really like how they fly but they don't make the weight and I don't want to add inserts.  I have narrowed it down to 2 so far the Gold Tip Kinetics or the Carbon Express Pile Drivers.  I have Pile Drivers and I liked them.  They flew pretty good but I can't use them because I changed my draw length from 29" to 30".  I am open to suggestion.

I'm using Blackeagle Rampage .250s and the 31" finished weight is 540 gr. with a HIT brass and 100 gr tip and 4 fletch.  The strongest arrow I've ever shot.

Is your goal a certain arrow weight or speed?

Got to be above 480gr to be legal here in WA.  Beyond that I am looking for nothing else.   Just be legal.

You could always take some weight out of the insert if you wanted a lighter/faster arrow.  I'm using the 75 grain brass HiT insert. You could knock it down to 50 or use the 56gr stainless steel outsert from Blackeagle.

I'm thinking that Jason's setup is going to be a little closer to what you may need for spine. Depending on how long your arrows will be. I'm  shooting the rampage 300 on a 28.5 and 75 grains inserts up front and 125 head to make legal weight. I'm at 486. My 80 lb katera xl loves this arrow, lots of FOC.  I have been very happy with the Black Eagles.

I'd get those kinetic kaos  arrows. They look sweet.  And only $194 a dozen.

I really do think gold tip makes the best hunting arrow. Maybe i need to try other arrows but when my goldtips are killing everything i shoot at I'll stick with them.

I have tried a bunch of different arrows. The strongest most consistent arrow I have shot has been gold tips. I have thought about trying the Blackeagle arrows but just can't let go of my gold tips. I'm shooting a 300 spine xt hunter pro. Think it's around 430 grains but you would need heavier to be legal. I did shoot those out of my 80 pound vector 35 but I lived in Oregon. Now I'm shooting 62 pounds.

I am shooting the same weight on my Gold Tips and about the same draw weight on my Destoyer.

Just curious, why change from this setup? You should be getting great speed and KE with that draw length from a destroyer?

Just trying another bow that I bought.  I am not expert in archery so I am just trying things before I settle on that one bow arrow setup.

Think im gonna eat the 22 grains and switch to the outsert. Seems it would make the arrow tougher when I miss.

Which is exactly my issue with GT. Tough as nails but flipping expensive  :bash:

It's pretty easy to find them at $160 a dozen

I got me some GT Kinetic's just a 1/2 dozen to test them out.  Nice thing doing the seminar at Cabela's last weekend I was a employee for a day so got employee discount and veteran discount I got them for $20 off.  100gr tips Lumenocks put me right at 480gr. Go see Denton I think he has GT Pro's for $160 per dozen.

Oh yeah, I gawked at that price the first time I saw that on their site. The rest of their arrows are pretty reasonable though. VAP Victory arrows are about the same price as the Kaos. I just don't want to deal with all the little inserts and pieces.
