Dont Forget SAVAGE, they make some dang good rifles these days with the accu trigger..

I shot a 7mm in Savage in my younger years and am sorry to this day that I sold it to a buddy..  It killed many deer and elk..
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

Shoulder every possible brand that chambers for the 7mm (most all, if not all do) and see what fits you best (LOP, weight, configuration).  Then, work the action and see what one is the smoothest.

Then pick the T3.........  In truth, I'm fairly sure that the T3 action will be the smoothest of any, but it also boils down to F&F and overall personal preference.

Huntin' for a new rifle should be a fun and exciting experience....good luck on your quest!!

 :yeah:

Rem 700 is still my favorite, get it in stainless, drop in a new trigger and stock and you will have a great rifle that shoots as well as a faux custom rifle they charge 3x the amount for.

Depends on your budget:

$300 Ruger American

$500-1000  Tikka T3 lite or superlite

$1100-1500  Kimber Montana, Forbes Rifle

I'd go with the T3 or the Savage for a really good budget rifle that shoots like a high end model. You can spend a lot more and probably won't be able to notice the difference.

Savage makes some great shooting rifles.  Not the prettiest to look at but shoot as good or better than most over the counter rifles.  What you save on the firearm can be put to high quality optics.  I read once on a forum for long range shooting. The guy said he would rather have a $200 rifle and a $1000 scope than a $1000 gun and a $200 scope.

I went and picked up the T3 lite last night myself in 7MM love the action and trigger so far.  I've shot one of my friends "superlites" and it was a nice shooting gun.  I've got a safe full of 700's and wanted something different this time.

Great purchase!  A T3's action is darn near unbeatable.......IMHO.  The triggers do come much nicer/smoother than many others, but I have found that with a little bit of adjustment, you can have the perfect trigger based on your own individual needs.  Don't forget to put a dab of nail polish over the adjustment screw head when you've determined the right trigger pull for you.  Done right, your trigger adjustment will not change.

My gun room was full of 700's and Sako's once upon a time, as well.  There's still one 700 LSS in 300 RUM that can be found in there, but outside of my AR's, all the rest are T3's.

Good luck!

:yeah:  My oldest is already talking about the need for a "backup" to his 700 he's thinking a T3.  Our collection of T's may be growing.

I personally use a Remington 700. has done me just fine over the years. I use a Leupold 4-12 scope on it as well. when I sighted it in I stacked the rounds almost on top of one another at 100yrds, plenty accurate enough for hunting  :chuckle:. but savage and some of the other mentioned I think would all serve your well.
