« on: January 02, 2009, 09:57:47 PM »
:)  Has anyone shot the new 09 Bowtech SWAT?  I shot it a bit and think its an awesome bow.  Anyone have any feelings towards this bow?  Lets hear em.

I don't know much about this model but my nephew has been looking to buy a new bow for about a year. He had an opportunity to try the new swat and he said that will be his next purchase.  :dunno:

ive shot bowtech bows for the last 7-8 yrs and I would not hesitate buying the swat.  It shoots good and is smoking fast!! seems to compare with my 08 allegiance, pretty similar but the swat is faster :twocents:

That bow is garbage you will have nothing but problems with it ..strings will break and the limbs will shatter.... ha ha just kidding -- looks like a sweet bow..should be a little better than the old rage!!!!

It is everything I wanted and a little more...not even in the same ballpark as the Rage...thanks for anyone that said anything...I bought it and am very happy with it.
Anyone looking to get one, there are no downsides that I have found thus far.

I shot one and it was a nice shooter but as far as the Bowtech's go I liked the Admiral and Captain better.  You can't go wrong with any of the new bows out there.  It's just a matter of what feels the best to you.

I work P/T at an archery shop. Bowtech is our #1 bow. Of the 09 bows it is by far the sweatest shooting bow. I'm shooting the Cammander right now,  but thinking about a change to the SWAT. The Diamond ICEMAN shots really nice to as a solo cam.

little john I was thinking about buying a 82nd airborne division bow by bowtech.  How does the SWAT compare to the 82nd in terms of speed and it's smoothness?

Th 82nd is a screamer :yike: Really fast. Its a pretty radical bow. Allot of guys use it just for target shooting. To get the speed its got a tough draw cycle. I like the bow, but you would really want to shoot them both side by side. The SWAT is smoother and quieter but not as fast. If it was me I'd be buying the SWAT, If your looking for a hunting bow??

Littlejohn, I have been thinking about getting a Diamond Iceman.  How are they for weight?
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

The ICE MAN is a little heavier than the BLACK ICE because of the rizer being the center pivot like the guardian. Its a little slower then some of the other Bowtecks but it makes up for it in smoothness. I really like it. The ICE MAN is the bow I'm really looking at. I'm waiting for a lefty to come in so I can put it through the ringer. I want to compare it to my Commander.

Little John thanks for the help.  So you would get a SWAT if you were buying a bow.  I've pretty much discounted the 82nd.  Do you know very much about the Captain?  How does it compare against the SWAT.  Also what do you especially like about the SWAT?

FYI the captain weighed in on postal scale at 5lb 2oz bare, my 08 Allegiance weighed in at 5lb 5oz with a stabilizer, QAD rest and SpotHog wrapped sight and a STS.
I was looking at the captain until we weighed it.

All the 09 Bowtechs are pretty nice. They are not the lightest bow out there with the center pivot. There is just more riser weight. My fav 09 Bowtech is the Admiral and my fav diamond is the Ice Man. Its really a personal preference and what feels good and comfortable to the individual. They are all shooting way fast enough to be great hunting bows.

Went to the Bow shop and the 82nd about ripped my arm off like you said.  The Captain shot nice but was super heavy, like you said.  The Admiral is the most amazing bow I've ever shot.  It was super quiet, and super smooth.  Had a nice draw cycle and there didn't seem to be any sideways torque at all etc.  So I'll probably buy the Admiral.  ALthough they did not have a SWAT so I am going to wait until they get one of those in before I make my final decision. As of right now the Admiral is my bow of choice.  So thank you all for the help and advice.

I shot the SWAT, Admiral, Ice Man and Black Ice....liked the SWAt the best, I thought it was smoother than the Admiral, and the Admiral really seemed to hit a wall when you pulled it back....but I'm a gun hunter just getting into the bow thing and don't know anything about them....I bought the SWAT and love it....a few days into shooting it I stuck one arrow in the ass of another, only 20 yards but still kinda cool.

The archery shop in Yakima still doesn't have a SWAT.  I'm getting antsy because I love the Admiral but I've heard so much about the SWAT I don't want to buy until I've shot it.  I shot the Hoyt Alphamax-32 and it was really nice but not as nice as the Admiral. Plus it cost an additional 100 bucks.
