Yak county does it again
« on: April 17, 2015, 11:45:16 AM »
Smoked another gobbler here again this am! Hadn't scouted an ounce and decided to head out this morning and just hope they were doing the usual thing. Sat down ad it was getting light and didn't need to throw out a locator, they were going crazy! I like to let it get really light before I move in, when I know they are off the roost. Usually they gobble and let me know which way they are  headed. Not today! They went silent! I eased down into the spot they usually go and did some soft calling for about 45 min and nothing. Decided to keep walking that direction to see what the sign looked like. Got a couple hundred yards away and heard gobbles where I just was! Eased back a bit and set up. Had them gobbling a but but they started heading the other way. So I followed.

They were moving ground quick, so I cut up the hill and swung around in front of them. Let out some yelps and instant reply right below me. I sat down and did some soft calls and they answered again. I decided to hit record on my gun mount for my phone I made. Instantly I saw them and I couldn't move. They caught me off guard, actually came within 10yds before they got nervous and swung below me. I swung around and let the rear bird have it. He went flying/tumbling/running down the hill and I chased after. Only to not find him. Was getting bummed out when I heard some flopping and there he was! The video wasn't great at all since I wasn't prepared. When I figure out how, I'll post it. But for now here's a picture.

Nice.  The only way I have been able to post videos is by uploading them to youtube first.

That. You have to upload them to a host 1st.

Congrats Mike...good looking bird.
