New Years Eve Buck

Didn't have a lot of time to hunt late bow because of work, but on the 31st I bailed early and was on a mad search for a jerky deer. Checked a couple spots and only found yearlings or this years fawns. With only about 30 minutes of daylight left I raced to an old honey hole that has produced handsomely in the past. Immediately saw two nice does at 75 yards.. then I saw horns snaking through the brush...didn't know how big but didn't care at that point! They had no clue I was there... they were slowly working my direction. Doing my best to be quiet in the crunchy snow I circled around to cut them off... had the buck slightly quartering away @20 yards, didn't see where my first arrow hit but knew I hit him... snuck up to find arrow... found gut juice on it and wasn't exactly happy... thought for sure I had shot a good arrow... saw movement at 30 yards.. buck was hanging his head looking sick... put another arrow perfect behind shoulder....he ran off... started to rain hard... Gave him some time and went back to look for him after dark, only had a crappy little flashlight and the rain had washed the vast majority of the blood away, finally had to give up and wait for daylight..I knew he was dead just had to find him... didn't sleep super well that night. Went back in the morning with a couple friends and immediately found him.. one horn was laying next to the buck and the other one fell off the minute my buddy touched it.. Come to find out both arrows had punched vitals & nicked the guts. Not a monster but I wasn't about to pass it up the last 15 minutes of season

Hey, hey-
Nice looking "last minute" buck. High five to ya. That is gonna be an easy euro mount for boiling, don't have to worry about the rack getting in the way.
