50CalJim shot an elk just like that calf in MT in 2007. That calf might be bigger.

Benbo, the tags are animals that have had blood drawn or dna work.  The other leather collars are radio transmitters so the bio's can monitor the heards.

Ya they are legal. If you shoot one you have to contact WDFW and turn in the radio collar, I think you can keep the other collars though.......... ??

I was over there about 3 years ago and they actually had 3 spotted calfs in there.  Very cool to see.

They were in the unit just north of where you were . Most of them anyway.
