Hiked Mt Si today
« on: April 26, 2015, 05:53:15 PM »
It's in north bend, first time for me!  It's quite the hike, round 4 miles to the top.  Tried to climb hay stack peak but that part was too steep for me, I don't enjoy rock climbing! Met this nice guy w his girl friend, he has done 4 tours of duty and carried that flag w him on all of them.  Nice guy, had to shake his hand and say thanks

That's a good hump up the hill. Good decision on not climbing the toe

Grew up in the valley and my folks lived about a block from the little si trail head for around 10 years. It can be a nice hike and much better on the weekdays without the crowds. Haystack is worth getting to if you can, especially on a clear day.

Its a good training hike for testing out new gear and intro to the outdoors. If you get hurt help won't be far off.

Used to rock climb Little Si just below. Cool area, and was always a blast climbing in redneck wear, made the other climbers look twice!

before we did mnt si we did little si, there were guys rock climbing and the guy was about 80' up. He fell but his partner stopped him who was on the ground, was cool to watch but neither one of them had helmets on? I thought that was not good?!

I know a guy that used to walk up Mt Si, BACKWARDS ONLY. No kidding, the guy was in his 50's when I worked at St. Regis Paper on 6th ave in Seattle. This guy was a hiking fool. He got killed in a car wreck in Clearview coming back from hiking Mt. Pilchuck in the 1970's..
