I couldn't find this posted and it's disturbing. It seems that gun control advocates will stop at nothing to discourage people from gun ownership.

I wonder what the modern day equivalent of "The British are coming!" would be.  :dunno:

This is all about a few squeaky wheels and a personal dislike of the range owner by the prosecutors office. Unfortunately Kitsap county is trying to slowly get rid of all gun ranges and eventually ban outdoor target shooting all together.

It's not just Kitsap county and not just WA state. Gun control advocates are using everything they can to shut down ranges, which is ridiculous. That means that people will still own gun, yet they'll be untrained to use them safely. It should make it clear to anyone who's not sleeping that their aim isn't to make society safer; it's to infringe on gun ownership and usage. If they were concerned about public safety, they'd get behind building more ranges, not shutting them down.

:) This is classic, the area around the existing range built up. People bought houses knowing the range was there then decided to go after it. geez between this and people not allowing RV's we wont have any rights left. Why do liberals hate every thing fun??

I have heard that a lot of this was driven by one neighbor.  The supposed story is he liked going to that range (like A LOT) and built his house right next door to it so he could walk over almost daily and shoot.  Then, by the time he retired from the Navy, the area had grown so much that the range became too crowded for him to even get in to shoot and the noise now bugs him.  Supposedly, he looked into selling/moving but was told it would be too difficult to sell his house because of being right next door; and that the home value is depressed--keeping him right next door.  Have been told that the guy even built his own little pistol range in his yard and shoots almost daily. Just doesn't like the big range next door anymore.
Just what I've heard.......
But now the county and developers are involved and smell a money-making opportunity, so the sharks are out.

We as a society are getting so soft.

Speaking of neighbors moving in areas which have had businesses / entities for years only to get complaints after moving in are getting more common. The squeaky wheels are using fear-based tactics to push personal agenda's. Check this out on NAS Whidbey

Same type of thing is happening to the range in mica. One person wants to subdivide amd sell their lots but value would be lower than they want because of the range... so he is sueing to shut it down.
And i still see and hear of people who like the range doing business with the persons company...  :bash:

They are really pushing lead exposure at ranges as well trying to use that angle as well to get them closed or regulated out of existence.

That's to bad, used to shoot ther a bit. Well run and safe. Had a good hunter Ed. Program. Article in the Kitsap Sun years back about a neighbor that claimed holes in his house were from the range, turned out they had been drilled.
The freak show Issaquah has turned into, it's hard to believe that range is still open!

We had a claim here at Clark Rifles of an errant projectile hitting someone. I believe it was never proven and may have been a BB - glancing blow maybe?  :dunno: But people have been buying land around the range knowing what it is and it's commonly felt that they'll do anything to get it closed down, including lying and making false reports.

I know there is a range not far from my home.  The regular use of the range is not intrusive.  However, the hours of the range have expanded since we bought our home.  Now every Sunday they shoot from 1-5, used to be open two Sundays a month.  The pistol range is active about 5 days a week.  The area around the range is being developed slowly.  However, the range doesn't attempt to mitigate sound.  IMO, ranges need to work with their neighbors or more will go down this path, then we will only have "super ranges" that are few and fare apart.

So, just for the sake of argument, when you move next to an existing freeway, do you then petition the federal government to make it quieter? Just asking because it's exactly the same thing. I would even go further to say that if you move next to a range knowingly and it's too loud for you, maybe you should get with your other neighbors and pay for the sound abatement.  :dunno:

So pman, I did not say next to, I said near.  That said you can actually hear it about a mile away.  Did I say too loud for me NO, I believe that the club will be will be in danger in the future if it doesn't take action...    Now lets try, a small county road and gets changed to a freeway, do you ask the fed?
