PMan's Ready for Varmints - Coyotes, Woodchucks, Whatever
« on: April 29, 2015, 01:00:46 PM »
I want to put my new 6.5 to a test and shoot some coyotes at somewhat long range (300-400 max though). If anyone is going shooting, especially within 2 hours of Vancouver, WA, please let me know. I'd love to go.

I'm excited to hear how it works for you.  Your 6.5 is one nice looking piece.

I loved it at the range, although after 15 years of only hunting archery, my 300 yd group didn't lock up like the 100 yard group. I'm having to remember proper breathing combined with the 2-stage trigger technique. I'm only about 150 rounds into it so far, so I have a ways to go.

Sounds like a sweet set up. Is there a link to a picture? Might have to go after some grey diggers in Klickitat.

Probably easier to hit at 300-400 yards than a coyote though.

I probably shouldn't say everything I think, huh?

Plat, old friend, Indians are more pests than varmints. You're safe for now! :chuckle: Besides, I know better than to shoot at a Jarhead. They shoot back and they're everywhere, sneaking up on you like the flu.

Thanks for the good wishes and I've already started having fun with it.

Biggerhammer was essential in getting me set up with the right parts. He completed the upper for me and walked me through the whole process of cerakote options, barrel manufacture and length, type of bolt carrier, which bi-pod, muzzle break, Magpul options, trigger options - the whole banana. I would strongly suggest that anyone doing their first or subsequent builds use him and Sharkbait to build yourself a unique piece that you'll be proud to own. I couldn't be happier.
