Turkey down!!
« on: May 03, 2015, 07:52:56 PM »
Set up about 1pm started with the box call calling periodically every 6min or so. About 30 min later heard a gobble about 400 yards or so. Kept calling to the response for a good 20 min then bird went silent. After this i tried to be quiet for the next 20 min, i started to doze off waiting for the bird to come in. I herd a "puck" behind me to my right. I looked that way and saw 3 jakes about 17 yards away from me. I had to take off the saftey and swith the Remington 870 Express to my left hand while taking of the saftey. The birds saw my movement and started to run for it, i aimed for the closest one, and with the 870's first shot ever fired shot this 18.5 lb Jake. Took my son yesterday and was close several times. Next week ill take him out to fill tag #2. Was a great day, just thought id share my success story. Good luck to everyone!
