Help get new goat tag in Alpine Lakes Wilderness
« on: April 30, 2015, 08:19:49 AM »
I haven't seen this posted on Hunting-Washington yet.  The Rocky Mountain Goat Alliance has teamed up this year with WDFW to try to get a new goat tag in place in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.  We are putting together a volunteer run population count under the direction of WDFW.  Shortly after the count, WDFW will fly the area with a helicopter to get an official population estimate.  We have been assured that if enough goats are counted from the helicopter, we can expect an ALW goat tag as early as next year.

Please go to RMGA's website to find more about the survey and to volunteer.

Are you looking at the western alpine lakes or eastern side of it?

I honestly don't know what side specifically.  Contact Ty (norsepeak@hotmail.com) to get more specific details.

That would be cool...Ive seen some monster billies up there. Hope they will consider going outside the wilderness boundary. Have seen a lot of goats in years past, and not all inside the wilderness boundary.

That would be really cool!  I've had them run across the road in front of my truck way above Calligan lake.  Not like I'd ever be drawn for it though.

I'd love to.  I'll give Ty a call, but definitely not in "goat" shape right now.

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to sign up.  An email was sent to me saying to sign up on the WDFW website. I can't find a place to sign up on the site anywhere. I looked at the Goat Alliance website, but not much info there. Also, where are the different routes that I can select from?  I'm assuming that they have specific routes they want covered so everybody doesn't cover the same areas.  I am going at it alone, if anybody else would like a partner, I'd like to team up. If not, no worries. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to meeting fellow HW members

Thank you in advance for your help.

Try here:  http://wdfw.wa.gov/about/volunteer/events/

Click the button that says "Please click here to proceed."

The mountain goat survey is almost at the bottom of the list.
